Killusty Show – All Ireland Pony Supreme Championship

Rules for All Ireland Pony Champion Supreme 2026
Prize Fund: €1,000
1. Qualifying rounds will be held at designated shows.
2. The Champion Supreme Pony from designated shows may qualify for the final. In the event of the Champion already being qualified, the Reserve receives the qualifier. If both the Champion and the Reserve are already qualified then the qualifier will be reallocated to another show later in the showing calendar.
3. The Pony Supreme qualifying classes include; In-hand Pony Champion (Welsh/ Broodmare), Youngstock Pony Champion, Connemara In-hand Champion, Connemara Ridden Champion, Connemara Working Hunter Champion, Show Pony Champion, Show Hunter Pony Champion, Open & Novice Working Hunter Pony Champion, Starter Stakes Champion, Intermediate Pony Champion, Mini Champion.
4. As the Intermediate Pony is included in the qualifiers; all pony entries must not exceed 158cms.
5. In the interest of fairness to all exhibitors, where qualifying shows hold separate Mini Supreme champ; Supreme Championship, there must be an overall Supreme chosen from these two champions. To decide the overall champion, they must compete against one another and be judged accordingly. It should be considered as a separate class and must comprise of a show piece. Please brief judges on the qualifying rules in advance of judging the Supreme.
6. Under IPS Rules, ponies must be measured before competing in ANY Ridden Class. The pony owner or the person responsible for presenting the pony at the Measuring Session is responsible for making themselves familiar with the Rules of Measuring ponies and those of Appeal. Ponies owned, wholly or partially, by Irish
residents of the thirty-two (32) counties (irrespective of where such ponies are located or maintained) must compete under IPS or SJI Measurement Schemes to comply with the Rules therein. The Council, through its relevant committee, has the authority to ask for any pony to be re-measured.
7. Finalists (pony and rider combination) must compete in a minimum of one class at Killusty Show on the 4/7/26.
8. On arrival in the final on the day of the show, the finalists will receive €50 for participating in the final. In the event of a finalist not presenting at the final, their €50 will be added to the Champion’s prize money. The Champion of the All Ireland Pony Champion Supreme final receives €500.
9. Riders must be have attained their 4 th Birthday by the 1/1/2026.
10. On completion of judging at qualifiers the successful qualifier will be given all relevant entry documentation by the ring steward. This must be completed and returned, along with the appropriate fee, to the secretary of Killusty Show within 14 days - this rule will be strictly adhered to.
11. Ponies will be judged on type, conformation, way of going and action in-hand.
12. Random Dope testing may be carried out on the day of the final.
13. Any objection must be lodged in writing with the show secretary within half an hour following the completion of the competition, together with €50 which is refundable if the objection is upheld.
14. This Championship is open to IPS members and Non – IPS members.
15. Finalist may be asked perform a set show for the final.
16. In the event that a qualified finalist cannot attend the final, we ask that you inform the secretary out of courtesy as soon as possible. A ‘wild card’ may be provided to a show that did not receive a qualifier in the draw for the shows to ensure that the final has maximum participants.
17. Killusty Show Committee, in consultation with the sponsor, reserves the right to amend the rules as may be deemed necessary.
